New york city officials cater to certain areas of the city more then others. Eddie Bautista says that a lot of attention is being payed to Manhattan when it comes to flooding "but you forget that you have real industries on the waterfront"(NAVARRO). I agree with Mr.Bautista that to much attention is being payed to Manhattan when there are many businesses on the water front in danger from flooding. The first step to protecting the city should be protecting these industries, because if you protect the waterfront from flooding you are in-turn protecting Manhattan. There is a bigger picture that people don't see, these water front industries provide thousands if not millions of jobs that help keep Manhattan in business. The workers at these jobs pay the big banks , they shop in the city, get gas for their commute or fill up their metro cards. If the industries on the waterfront were to go out of business permanently or even temporarily can cripple everyday new yorkers, but guess what the big bankers will still be well off while others are suffering, because the city didn't protect their work place.
